I think being around David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez will let him mature a bit faster as a hitter.

However, he still needs consistent playing time.

The only thing holding back Wily, is Wily. He's out of shape, undisciplined as a hitter and the circle routes he takes on fly balls would make Manny look positively graceful. Classic case of a million dollar talent and a ten cent head

Yes, Wily Mo has good power, but it's his 245 pound frame in the outfield that is the concern. The guy has limited range due to lack of speed.

If only WMP could run a decent route to a fly ball, he probably would be the starting CF now and Coco would be traded.

Pena would make a perfect DH, unfortunately the Sox already have a pretty good one!

The Sox need to either make room for Wily Mo or deal him otherwise he will stagnate and pee off many fantasy owners!

I am not sure how they were planning on developing him. He was the odd-man out in an outfield of Ramirez, Crisp and Drew.

The Drew deal is in limbo, but I don't know if the Sox intend to find another OF.

Ultimately, I think he has to play every day to improve, just like any other athlete.

Unfortunately for Wily Mo there's no room in the outfiled any longer. If they deal Manny which isn't going to happen then they would keep him but I've heard rumors hes trade bait.

great power, yes. however he has poor plate discipline. he doesnt take many walks. boston tends to favor the high on base percentage guys. if he had 500 or so at bats, realistically he could mash 30-40 home runs. i read a scouting magazine that said he has more natural power than former teammate adam dunn.

In my opinion, he was brought up too soon by cincinatti..he needed at least a year more in the minors to help with some of his many flaws
