Here's my dillema, and i would just call the counselor but they are out for x-mas break, so here ya go:

I am wanting to do the LVN program at a community college. It says that the prerequisites are PSYC, BIOL I and BIOL II. The applications for the program are accepted in the spring and that is when I would take my prereqs and then the program starts in the summer. Will I be able to take the biologys at the same time? Or maybe will they let me start the lvn program while i finish the second biology? Also does anyone who has taken the lvn program know about how much the whole thing cost them?

It depends what BIOL I and BIOL II are. Usually when courses are numbered like that they are considered sequence courses, which you would have to complete "in sequence." Therefore, you would have to do BIOL I before BIOL II, and usually BIOL I is a prerequisite to BIOL II. If you feel comfortable enough, you can always challenge BIOL I by testing...iff you pass, that would allow you to enroll in BIOL II.

As for starting the program while completing BIOL II, I wouldn't suggest doing that. Usually the Nursing course load is too extreme for other classes to be taken along with it. BUT, it can be done. You will have to talk to your Nursing director and/or your advisor to see if that is an option at your school.

I have seen some CCs that require 2 or 3 classes for prerequisites, then you are admitted into the nursing program...where you take 9 credits of nursing courses, and 3 - 6 general education courses...so it can be done.

I am taking the same course at my area community college. They usually do not allow you to take two biology classes at the same time. Especially if thay are part 1 and part 2. Some schools allow you to take the other prereq at the start of the program. It depends on how competitive the program is. They will take others first that have all of the prereqs. As for price, I did a little research and it looks like it will cost me about $4,000. You should try to apply for a grant at the financial assistance office. they will be able to help you. If you don't qualify for all of it to be paid, they might at least pay part of it. I qualified for them to pay for some of it at least. Hope this helps.

community college in basic terms take you 2 years. After which you will circulate to a 4 years college and end you bachelor in yet another 2 years. So total 4 years to get bachelor degree.
