See a practitioner of NLP. Choose one carefully.

Childhood brainwashing is not something one turns off like a light switch. You might want to allow God to exist in the ideal of Love rejecting the terror as ignorance at the hands of misguided people.

You will never get rid of Hatred by hating it.

God would never want to hurt or harm you. Your fears and nightmares are coming from another source other than God. Maybe its time to have a long talk with God. Talk to Him about these fears and nightmares. See if He cannot supply the peace and strength to persevere. It is time to be running to Him instead of running from Him. May God touch your life today with goodness and peace.

Well first of all the so called Monsters are not of God. God, is our Father in Heaven and he would never want any of his children to feel that way. The feelings your having is of Satan or the Devil. He knows that you dont believe in god and he tries all he can to keep you from NOT believing. Such as nightmares & stuff you know the Devil can influence others to affect and exploit your feelings causing these nightmares. BELIEVE IN GOD he WILL help your pain. I SWEAR MY GOD GIVEN LIFE ON THIS

I'm religious also, and trust me...it is NOT God doing this to you. God is cool...the best dad ever. ( And a "good dad" would not hurt or scare his children.) Try to read the Bible now, that you are an adult. It will look differently.
When I wanted to discover for myself, what the Bible was about. I started in Proverbs. I looked for what it meant to "fear God." You might like the answer.
It sounds like someone in your past tried to force you to believe something that might not be true.

I think you are struggling with the perception of what you have been taught about God and mixing it up with Satan. If God were a myth and Satan were a myth, then this world would exist on noxious gases. It doesn't. The soul is real. It exist within you and you are having a debate within. You can't 'get rid' of God or Satan, you need to better understand the FORCES that are at play. ~joni

Your fears and nightmares stem from you turning your back on something you believe in for 15 years probably because of something that happened to you. The devil is using your issue that occurred to cause you to ultimately question and this turn your back on God to rule you and he has his claws in you big time.

I dont know how you could ever not believe in God, and since I do and He means everything to me, I will pray that you never want to get rid of Him, but instead want to rid your life of the devil who is now in control.

It is amazing how people will discount God but dont discount the devil and his dealings, but instead embrace him and give him so much control over their lives.

Even I don't try to get rid of God. I just chose to talk to him. I mean, you don't really need to be religious to believe in God. I haven't gone to church for I don't know how many years. I've never even read the Bible. But see, you can't just get rid of God. You have to solve your problems. You should try to find out what this means(*ahem*). Really. You must find a way...

I think your problem is you grew up with the idea God was a terrifying being when the thruth is that He is love, if you decide to stop believing in Him that's fine for Him, since He gave us freewilling it means you choose not only what you do with your life but also in what to believe or not, He is not chasing you, He loves you so much that He set you free.

How do you get rid of something that doesn't exist? When you accept that mythology/fantasy cannot hurt you because it's not real, then you'll stop feeling guilt about using your own mind and giving up that which you realized isn't real and therefore cannot help or harm you.
