How can you learn to stop obsessing? Excluding activities such as writing and working out...any other ideas?

I am trying to understand the dynamics of obsession, any information would be most welcome!

I would not say it is a disease per se, but it is something that is on the extreme end of caring or loving someone or some thing. Obession is mostly unhealthy because it causes one to fixate on a person or thing and it will start to cause problems in other parts of that person's life (relationships, jobs, emotional issues).

In my opinion, treatment comes from disassociating one's self from the thing obsessed over. Easier said than done, but that has to be the first step. Second, try to focus on other things in life. Time is the only thing that will ultimately stop the problem.

Do some research online on obsessions. You've probably heard of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder).

You may find plenty of information on what constitutes an obsession and how it's treated.

The best thing would be to talk to someone who can help you and find the base for your obsession and what it covers and what would be the best way to approach treatment

I noticed you left out eating, drinking, breathing, and other regular daily activities. Aren't these obsessions too?
