I have a 1989 Pontiac 6000 2.5Litre 4cylinder. Took off the serp belt to change the water pump. Took out almost all screws in water pump except the screw thats behind the pulley. You can not access this screw w/ pulley on. I have a pulley puller but the engine compartment is too small for it 2 fit. Also Any one know about the pulley tensioner because after I took off the belt it doesnt seem like the spring is working?

Apply a little heat to it ,and tap it lightly all the way around it.this should do it and about the tensoner, its bad replace it while you are there. If you need more room to work ,try loosening frt motor mount and raising engine.

try using a flat style puller like a steering wheel puller they don't need as much room as a three jaw pulley puller

your water pump bearing is probably wiped out, regrettably if it extremely is the case changing the water pump is the only option take the belt off returned grab the fan in case you may wiggle it forward and returned its no stable if its ok bypass to the belt tensioner, Its the subsequent likely perpetrator if it get out of line it is going to throw the full component out of whack stable success

It could just be boogered on there really good from corrosion. Have you tried PB Blaster Penetrating Catalyst? It is an AMAZING rust breaker, much better than WD-40 (which is just a lubicant).
