There are a couple different ways. The easiest and most widely used takes the highest score and make it a 100 and the rest are "curved in" under it.
For example. The highest score on a test is 75. In order to make it a 100, 25 is added to the score. And the same is done for all of the other scores. So if you had the following five scores, their curved grade would be: 75 - 100; 72 - 97; 65 - 90; 55 - 80; 50 - 75.
Hope this helps.

After test time, the teacher takes the highest score or an average of the 10 highest scores and makes that a 100% or a grade of an A. Then everyone else gets B's C's and so forth according to this adjusted scale.
Also, another method for grade curving is to start out giving the class a 20 point advantage. So if they get 80 out of 100 questions right, that counts as an A. And everything above the 80 will count as an A+

A curved grade is when a professor decides to make the lowest and highest grades their respective top and bottom.
An example:
20 people take a test. The highest grade is 80, while the lowest is 50. The professor can either add 20points to everyone's score, to make the 80 a 100, or s/he can make the 80 into a hundred and divide the rest by averages. 80 would be an A+, 50 would be a D-, and s/he would average everyone else's grades off that.

Grades are curved from the lowest grade to the highest grade reached in a class. That means if the best student in the class got a fifty, the grades curve from fifty, A would be from 45- 50 instead of 92 - 100

There is no set way to curve a grade. It depends on the teacher's discretion. I have seen it done many ways, my favorite includes (if no one makes a 100) give points to the person who makes the highest grade to allow them to make a 100. Then add that many points to everyone else's grade. However, this only works if every student completely bombs the test. If there are braini-acts in the class this would NOT be the best way!

depends on the teacher, some will make it so the average grade is a C, which means your grade could possibly be lowered. My teacher this semester however would add on points to everyone's finals if the avg was less than around a B, which meant everyone benefited.
