Just wondering- What is it about the deadbeat parent always trying to screw their kids? Why do they 'suddenly' get laid off or work under the table? They want their kids to have birthday partys, field trips at school, new shoes, food and electric etc? Why do they look for reasons NOT to pay child support? and if they honestly can not afford it, why do they go out and have MORE babies? do ANY of you have good luck with the honor system? who knows why?

Well I can answer this as a "victim" of this. I have no idea why they do stuff like this. I mean my mom has/had 4 kids and a little after my parents divorce my dad got sick and had quit working. What I don't understand is how he can't pay for us, but he can pay for his 3 step-children and my half-sister. Now I love them all the same but sometimes you have to wonder, what some parents think. So you could say my dad owes me a few thousand dollars but I probably won't ever see it and I'm okay with that now. The honor system is not really a good solution, at least I don't think so.

my ex doesn't pay for child support, but to answer your question I think it is because kids are looked as an asset that got given away in the divorce.

If the woman got custody of the kids the father looks at is if he lost them and doesn't own them so he ain't gonna pay for them, also if they are out of sight and out of mind they probably can easily forget to pay.

also the economy is just to tight, most parents have to both work to pay the bills. So the deadbeat doesn't have extra money, but neither does the custody parent.

Maybe the deadbeats social security should be taken if they never pay, that way the parents can live poor as the children did.

There are alot of things you can do. Sadlly it takes time. They parent paying sometimes feels like that is all they are working for and not them selfs. It sucks. I am going through the same thing. If he/sge gets ti far behide they can take all there tax money at the end of the year. Just make sure that you report it if you havent already.

Well for one a moron like a dead beat parent will only thing he is hurting the spouse and thinking she oe he is spending the money on them not teh children. But their day will come they will either have to pay or go to jail. But some guys are like that don't see why becasue it's their kids too.

My ex pays CS directly to me--he's never late. It's always on time without fail. Of course, I'm a criminal defense/family law attorney so that may factor in somewhere.

They are pathetic low-lives that only care about themselves. Im going through that right now...I have a beautiful 4 month old baby girl and her father has done nothing for her.
