I want to buy my neighbors something for the holidays, or take something to their house as a nice gesture on Christmas Eve. I am not going to be doing any baking this year. But I just want to extend a nice gesture to two neighbors/families. Any ideas ??
They both have children 5 and under.

Are store bought cookies too cheesy ?
I thought about that.... but didn't want to seem cheap because I didn't bake them.

Go to the grocery store and buy a cookie tray, or a cheese and cracker tray.

I usually make a gift basket out of deli items for my neighbor.

Maybe a nice Home Depot or Lowe's gift card for sprucing up around the house. Since you're not baking, how about a nice assortment of cookies in a festive tin?

Just a few ideas to spurn your thoughts. Very neighborly gesture!

When I was growing up my mom would give our neighbors cookie recipes in a jar. You know those jars that people make jam in?? Just get a recipe, write or type it on a little card, put the dry ingredients in the jar in layers so it looks pretty and give that to your neighbor. You don't have to bake anything, they do, and since they have kids, it can be a fun family activity for them.

Here's one you can try.

What about a "hot chocolate" basket. Include all the fixings; mugs, milk, syrup, marsh mellows, whipped cream. You could include a package of store bought or bakery cookies.

a nice bottle of wine is always classy and no baking required! You could give them a poinsetta plant if you want to keep with the Christmas-y feel!

get them a gift certificate, or buy them a fruit basket. I think this would be very nice on your part. Merry christmas and have a happy new year.

Candles for the adults and, you could buy those candy cane shaped containers that come with the candy in them for each of the kids. That is what I did for my neighbors
