I just configured my wireless card modem with no encryption. But when my other computer tried to connect to this wireless connection, it gets connected for 1 second and then it displays an error:

The wireless adapter failed to get a valid IP address. This can be due ti an authentication failure with the network, incorrect wireless security passwords (encryptions keys) or because of DHCP server malfunction

How do I fix this problem?????

If you are using a linskys router, try repairing it. All you do is right click on your linskys button on your task bar (the one that has a picture of one computer not the one that has a picture of 2 computers) and then click on repair. Hope that helps.

There are many items that can cause the problem. First check that your router's DHCP is set up correctly. It should be assigning IP addresses to connected machine. If it is but doesn't appear to be working, set the other computer to use a "static" address, something like 192.168.0.100. (Note: your router may use a different subnet and you should determine that as well.)

If that's not the case, then could your other computer mistakenly be set up with encryption?
