Medical text books will tell you day 10-15 post your period, so start counting day one with the first day of your period. As you may have seen there are some who ovulate more or at different times. If trying to get pregnant you should''t have sex everyday, the sperm need time to mature, so every other day is a better bet.

To know with certainty you have to know the exact Length of your periods. If you have regular cycles and they last 28 days then you will be ovulating two days before and two days after your 14th day post menstruation. The temperature check is a good way to make sure you are ovulating, you will also feel more willing to have sex. Good luck... oh by the way start taking Folic acid ahead of the pregnancy to reduce the risk of neural malformations...

The time for ovulation is around middle of the cycle.
So if your cycle is of 28 days, its around 14th day from first beeding of that cycle
The duration of a normal cycle is betweeen 20 and 35 days.
So depending on the length of cycle in you, calculate the day of ovulation.
The viability-similar to lifespan, though not same as it,of an human egg is around 48hrs(2days) and that of human sperm is 24 hrs.
So,the most appropriate time to have the intercourse is 1 day before,on the day,and on next day of ovulation.
i.e,If a woman's cycle is 28 days long, she should have intercouse on 13th,14th,15th day.Sometimes, having it on 12th or 16th day could also get her pregnant.
Also it is important that you have regular cycles.Or else there is possiblity of abortion. In case you do not have regular cycles, please visit a doctor.Dicussing it here is not within the scope.

Yes you are right.your cycle may be of any days from 28 to 32 or whatever, ovulation always occur exactly 14 days prior to start of the menses. So if you want to conceive, you'll have to try from 2 days prior to 2 days after the day of ovulation. You'll have to keep record of your cycles to guess the date of ovulation more accurately. There are certain methods by which you can keep track the date of your ovulation eg. basal body temperature, cervical mucus test etc.you can try those.

usually around the 14th day of your menstrual cycle. When you are ovulating your body temperature will rise. Take your body temperature everyday at the same time. When it rises slightly above normal (assuming you are not sick) then that's when you are ovulating. Or you can use an ovulation stick that detects the progesterone level.
