For my project I submitted a Remote Administrative Tool. The great thing about it is that you can gear it towards whatever you want and it can be as personalized as you like. Allow it to monitor multiple networks, individual workstations, enhance security, enhance effieciency.

My best advice in choosing a project is to think specifically about the work you want to do after college. Embedded systems is a pretty big area, so think about the job opportunities with embedded systems and the sort of work you want to do, or even the company you want to work for.
Then chose a project closely related to that.
Most people at college don't tell you to do this, but people who follow my advice often get the job they want when they leave college.

YOu should do a project that not only highlights your interests and intelligence, but also one that shows that you can actually write and properly put together a project paper. Why don't you write about computer code and the applications that you've used it for?
