If you want a phone without a plan (prepaid or not) or a contract, you can get one at any cellular retailer, but you would have to pay the no contract price for them, which is about $300+. Other then that, try your local second hand store or pawn shop for a used one. I don't know why you want one like this, but if you ever plan on getting it activated, make sure it will work on the network you plan to activate it on.

Personally I like Cricket myself. Unlimited minutes and text messages for a flat rate every month.

But you could also try pre-paid service from most major carriers. Cingular has GoPhone, T-Mobile has T-Mobile To Go, then there is Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Amp'd Mobile...

Don't buy Tracfone though. They are expensive and their service isn't the greatest.

And just for the record, Cellular One was bought out by Alltel and now runs through the Alltel brand name, unless you live in Alaska where Dobson Cellular operates. They bought the C1 brand name.

Virgin Mobile is the best -- and they are pretty much the same price at any store. Best Buy, radio Shack, even some 7-11's have them. I am buying one this morning (odd coincidence) and plan to go to radio Shack.

EBAY is the best place for phones w/o contracts. Used and new.

Walmart has all kinds of prepaid ones. We have cricket in pa. Idk where you live. But cricket is unlimited minutes and no contract. It doesn't have very good reception though.
