my cat is fond of both especially when they topple over in the middle of the night with a large smash/crash,due to his unquenchable fascination with all things stringy and dangly hanging from the tree.

Both have their advantages. Real trees smell so nice, but require regular watering, drop needles all over, and can be a fire hazard. Fake ones anymore look very real and don't have the disadvantages of a real tree, but have no scent to them. Costwise, an artificial tree pays for itself in two or three years when compared to the cost of buying a real tree every year.

I always liked real trees until I cut one and the darn thing dried out before Christmas. I had to put up a fake tree I had in the attic. It worked well and they decorate so nicely.

FAKE, for now until we buy our own land. Then we can have a real one so after Christmas we can plant it as a family!

A fake one, don't have to worry about watering it or the needles falling off making a mess.

Always prefered real, until we got a fake one. Much easier, no messy needles, don't have to worry about watering it, and they make them very realistic looking now. Unfortunatley, no pine smell...but yankee candles make a good candle for that.
