Just to clarify...

Dallas is 9-5, Philly is 8-6. Forget about the Giants for a minute.

Dallas and Philly play each other on Christmas day. Let's imagine that it's not a tie.

If Dallas wins, they will be 10-5 and Philly will be 8-7 with one game to go, so Dallas would win the division.

If Philly wins, they and Dallas would both be 9-6 with one game to go. Remember the Eagles won back in October, so if they beat Dallas again, they have swept the series. It's an important point, because if the Eagles and Cowboys finish with the same record, the Eagles would win the division over the Cowboys.

The last week of the Season, the Cowboys play the Lions and the Eagles play the Falcons.

Let's imagine the Cowboys beat the Lions (VERY probable). This would mean the Cowboys finish the season at 10-6.

Remember that if the Eagles ALSO finish 10-6, they would win the division over the Cowboys since they will have beaten them twice. In that case, the Eagles would need to defeat Atlanta to make that happen.

To summarize, in order for the Eagles to win the division, they would need to defeat Dallas on Christmas Day and then win over the Falcons on New Years' Eve day. Dallas DOES NOT need to lose out.

The reason Dallas has clinched a playoff spot is because the worst they would finish is 9-7. Even if the Falcons and Giants win out, there would be a 3-way tie for the wild card. Because of tiebreakers (division record, head-to-head and so forth), the Cowboys and Eagles and Giants would have playoff spots and the Falcons would not.

They can't this week, their is three games left and the Cowboy's only have a one game lead in the NFC East. This can best be explained in a chart(sort of) for the next coming weeks Cowboys win twice (10-6) and Giants and Eagles lose twice (8-8) Cowboys win out (11-5) Cowboys win once(9-7) and Giants and Eagles lose out(7-9)

No, UCLA - Philly is 2nd in the NFC east...

If Dallas loses 2 games, they will get a wild card berth. If Eagles win 2, they win the division - but that'll never happen

Because they hold a tie breaker against both Atlanta and Carolina. If the Giants win both, and the Eagles win both.... The Eagles would win the division and the Giants and Cowboys would take the wildcard.

then they will have a 9-7 and still be in the playoffs because they have a better record than the rest of the nfc teams. they probably have a tie breaker over the eagles as well

eagles will win i'm 80% sure of that (they hate T.O.) and dallas will most likly win against the lions so (hopefully they loose) but they should end up at 10-6 i pray they'll get a 9-7

THEY HAVE A PLAYOFF BIRTH. IF THEY LOSE THE NEXT TWO ANS PHILLY WINS THE NEXT TWO THEN PHILADELPHIA WILL WIN THE DIVISION AND DALLAS WILL GET A WILDCARD SPOT.

THE COWBOYS WON'T LOSE BOTH GAMES COZ THE LAST GAME IS AGAINST THE DETROIT LIONS SO...............................

They haven't they have to win one more to secure the division or have the eagles lose one

Because they have mathematically eliminated several other teams and the playoff system in the NFL rewards mediocrity rather than stellar performances.

Because they're already the division leaders of the NFC east.
NYG is second in nfc east, but they're two games behind from first place dallas, and philly is 3rd in nfc east.
