F = ma

First we need to find the objects mass and we know that F=5.3N and a=9.81m/s² on earth. So we have the following:

5.3N = m * 9.81m/s²

So solve for m.

m = 5.3/9.81
m = .54 kg

A) So now we go to Mars. We're trying to find its weight in Newtons. We know m = .54kg and a=9.81*.378 (Since the acceleration due to gravity is .378 times that of earth.) So we have:

F = .54kg * (9.81*.378)m/s²
F = .54kg * 3.70818m/s²
F = 2.002 N

So the weight on Mars would be 2.002 N.

B) Now we go to Neptune. We know the following: m = .54kg and a=9.81 * 1.14. So we have:

F = .54kg * (9.81*1.14)m/s²
F = .54kg * 11.1834m/s²
F = 6.039 N

So the weight on Neptune is 6.039 N.

Hope this has helped.

weight is defined as mass X acc due to gravity
Acoording to law of conservation of mass
mass can neighter be destroyed nor created

so the mass of body is same on earth as well as on neptune

at earth acc due to gravity is 10m/s2 (actually 9.81)

mass of bread is
5.3 / 10 = .53 kg

now weight on mars
.53 X (.379) X 10

on neptune

.53 X (1.14) X 10

A) Since F = m*a, if you divide the gravity by 6, you divide the weight by 6. B) If you multiply the gravity by 2.64, you multiply the weight (force of gravity) by 2.64.

g on earth is 9.81 m/s^2
.378 * 9.81 = 8.708 = g on Mars
Now, m = 5.3/ 9.81 = .5403 Kg
F(Mars)= g(mars) * m = 8.708 * .5403 (N)

1.14 * 9.81 = 11.183 = g on Neptune

F(Neptune) = 11.183 * .5403 (N) on Neptune
