This is a tough one. A lot of times when babies are more than 42 weeks late, it's often because the due date was miscalculated. But sometimes babies really are that late and while most of the time, it's not a problem...sometimes it can be troublesome because the placenta isn't as effective at nourishing the baby.

Why don't you try recommending that your friend try natural induction methods at home for a few days. When doctors induce in the hospital they usually use progesterone cream and oxytocin (pitocin).

Pitocin (oxytocin) can be naturally induced into the body by nipple stimulation. She could try stimulating her nipples very frequently to release the chemical.

Progesteron is also found in semen...so she could try having sex and having her partner ejaculate right onto her cervix. An orgasm for her couldn't hurt either. I know that it worked for us when our son was born.

These are the SAME chemicals that are used in the hospital so there would be little harm in trying.

These are economical ways she can try without having to see the doctor, but after a few days if it's not working, she really should see someone.

could you research sliding scale clinics for her?

There many hospitals that care for patients with no insurance or money. She needs to explain that to them on arrival. It is mostly non profit hospitals that are more willing to do this. After 42 weeks of pregnancy the placenta starts to get old and does not have good circulation with the baby. Also the baby is just growing and growing and could be a hard delivery. I would look up in the phone book and make some calls and get that baby out! Good Luck. Just remember back in the good ole days before all this medical break through women had to wait till they went into labor on their own and their babies were just fine.

Induction may not be the best thing for her.

Has she seen anyone in the medical profession since the beginning of her pregnancy? Does she have anyone she can call or go see?
She is not being a responsible mother to not be getting some medical attention for her and her baby. Does she know that without some kind of medical attention she could be risking both of their lives?
We need more info to answer this question fully, but the bottom line is that your friend NEEDS to go see a Dr. Or, a midwife. A midwife is qualified to deliver her baby in a hospital & would likely be more cost effective.
However, if she has not seen anyone for this preganancy yet it will be very difficult to find a Dr. or midwife this late in the game.

Tell her to go striaght to the ER. No hospital can turn her away bc of no insurance or unable to pay. They have to help her and her unborn child to the best of thier abilities.

After 41 weeks...they usually induce. If the contractions have stopped then there could be a problem...which could mean the baby is running out of nutrients. After 41 weeks the placenta gets old...and does not help the baby at all!! Also...the baby is old enough to use the restroom, and may sound crazy...but he can actually swallow it and die. It happened to one of my friends...so they had to induce bc she would not go into labor.

You need to get her to a hospital. They will look at the baby and then will induce. Get her there now!!! Dont wait!!!

Tell her to start looking for a birth center or a midwife in her area. much cheaper than hospital and better maternal infant outcome statistics. They will be very nice to her and help her out even if she hasn't had prenatal care without being judgemental or giveing her attitude when she checks in. Good Luck Her and baby should be fine right. 42 weeks sn't that bad it could be her due date off a bit. God Bless

She needs to go to the hospital. All kinds of serious complications can occur from a baby staying inside too long. She will probably even qualify for charity care. The hospital will review her finances and she will get either free care or reduced cost care (depending on income). She needs to go NOW.

Has she had NO prenatal care?
Is she sure of her dates?
Maybe if you call your local WIC office they would have information on free/low cost clinics where she could be seen to make sure that she and the baby are OK.
If she is really sure she is 42 weeks, she may need some intervention soon to help things along before the placenta begins to deteriorate.

I went over via just about 4 weeks and my son became out completely healthful. i do no longer think of that it unavoidably will become poisonous, in spite of the shown fact that it isn't precisely a secure environment. i might think of the infant ought to start to crush the mum's inner organs if it have been to get too vast (we in basic terms stretch to date). yet maximum medical doctors won't enable a being pregnant to proceed longer than forty two weeks besides. frequently via forty-one if there's no infant, they have set an induction date in the past week forty two.

That's crazy!! Tell her that she needs to stop being selfish and put this baby first. Has she even been going to her prenatal visits? Well, still be there for her but keep nagging her.
