But to address your question: I don't know where you live, but where I live in Southern California, we have PetSmart and Petco, stores devoted exclusively to pets. You can find several aisles of merchandise devoted to pets. Just strolling down the aisles should give you plenty of ideas.
If you don't have such a store near you, then I can suggest "The Purrfect Cat Toy", which is essentially a toy on the end of a wand. Most of the cats I've had go nuts over these. There are a number of varieties, and certain cats respond better to one type over another. Do a Yahoo search, and you will find plenty to choose from online.

Have you thought about maybe a new toy where it learn their fighting skills or sharping claws?
A Nice big fluffy bed..lol.. nice and warm on a cold winter night. and christmas morning.
A new dish? there are all kinds of things you can give for your cat(socks) just check out any PetSmarts or PetCo. in your town. I'm sure the sales person would be able to help you with some more suggestions.

a self cleaning litterbox or an inclined scrahing pad with catnip (if he still has claws). if not, get him a nice warm bed, they love the warmth, and as he gets older, it feels even better to him cuz thier little joints ache....
any ideas on what to get my 9 yr old black and white?? :)

go to a childrens store if you have one its called once upon a child you will find some nice stuff there for CHEAP
