Yes there is a device
Yes they do work
It's called a Mobile Repeater or Cellular repeater. That should solve the issues you are having but the cost might make you think twice about the purchase. You could also check with your provider if they offer some sort of call forwarding service. If they do, then when you are at home, you can have the mobile calls forwarded to your home phone. Hers a link to a shop that sells repeaters - Cheers

I had a similar problem in a thatched cottage where I used to live. Here it was the chicken wire holding the thatch which was reflecting the signal. Another reason for low signal strength is the extensive use of aluminised insulating panels and plasterboard in buildings.

It is possible to improve mobile reception inside buildings using a simple passive repeater.

You need 2 mobile phone band antennas and probably a length of suitable transmission line.

Mount one antenna outside your house ideally as high as possible on an existing TV mast would be ok with a suitable stand-off.

Route the cable from this external antenna into your house to a fairly central position and connect the second antenna.
This will re-radiate the signal received from outside your house (up high on the TV mast).

Note: active repeaters or domestic cells are not legal in the UK.

Good luck.

snowball666 is a chuv, dont listen to her, she doesnt even have a contract phone

all networks have black spots, no network will say that has 100% reception. Old brick houses are the worst to live in and have good reception, again that may vary from one provider to the next signal boosters are expensive, probably a lot more than paying a 12 month contract outright.

I am suffering the same problem and the problem is that you need to get the phone used to the spot your in so it's signal improves. Something about these new phones is weird with signal now and I'll never fully understand it. Hope I helped :)

it probably depends on what network you are on as to what kind of reception you get and also the area in which you live. If you live in a city or town you shouldn't have much problems. Just put your phone near the window. 02 has the best reception network coverage.

My Orange phone is useless at my daughters house, her phone using another provider is fine. Could be you have to change providers. Check your friends phones at your house.

I've heard of several that claim to do that, but never heard of one that works! We either go outside or upstairs. Or use the landline.
