How do you pronounce Louisville as opposed to Lewisville? Are there two proper pronounciations of this word (Louisville) or is there only one? If only one, what is it?

If you are talking about Louisville KY, I have lived here all my life. Most who live here either pronounce it Louie ville (that's how I say it) or Lu ah vull.

Although I am not a native, I have been to Louisville Kentucky many times. Personally I pronounce the name of the city LOOEY ville. Most of the locals say LEW uh vuhl. Some run it all together, I cannot say or spell it, the closest would be LUH u uhl.

At the Airport you can get T-Shirts which say:
Lewsiville
Louisville
Louuhville

Not that you asked, there is a town in Kentucky by the name of Versailles. The locals call it ver SALES.
