And what about rice cereal? How do you heat it up? In the microwave or in a pot on the stove?

If it was at room temperature, I never heated it up. But if it's been in the fridge, I always did. You can just heat it in the microwave for like 10 seconds. Make sure when you get it out that you stir it up real good and check the temperature with your finger before giving it to your baby.

I always heated up my daughter's food, but you have to be very careful if you choose the microwave route. Microwaves cook unevenly. Newer microwaves also cook so fast and so hot that you don't really need to heat it any time at all, maybe 10 seconds. Make sure you stir it very well before you feed it to your child. And check the temperature! I found some great plastic spoons at the dollar store that change colors when the food is too hot for a child or baby. The stove is a tried and true method, but takes a while. Good luck with it.

I heat my son's food before feeding, except his jarred fruit, if it's coming out of the fridge I just nuke it for 6 sec or so, enough to get the chill out. I warm his meat, his veggies in the microwave for about 12 seconds. Just as long as you stir it up really well, and test the temp before serving. (just remember that all microwaves have different power strength) As for the cereal, use warm tap water and mix it up, saves lots of time. Some babies prefer cooler food, but my son definitely prefers his meals warm.

I never heat any of it up and my 5 month old doesn't mind. My friend told me not to heat up her cereal b/c when you travel or go to the mall, they won't eat it cold. To avoid this, don't start. I thought "how smart!" so my babe gets cold food from the fridge, coldish water from the cooler and rice cereal made with the same coldish water. She doesn't mind but I've never started with warm food.

When my son was little, I would "nuke" anything that was cold just long enough to take the chill off it. If you are just opening the jar from the cupboard, room temp is fine or nuke it for 10 seconds but be sure to test it first on your lips. Cereal we mixed with his formula so it was warm as the formula was warm. They need to get used to warm foods, makes it easier as they get older. A friend of mine kept her daughter's food cold, to this day (she is 6 now) she wants her food cool almost cold before she will eat it. Yuck to me!

You can heat up the baby food for maybe 10-15 seconds and make sure you stir it and check it that it's not too hot.

The best thing to do is Mashed Potatos. I was eating MP's in 3 months of birth. Good solid food for them to start on, just make sure they aren't lumpy.
