I like phone calls when both people are willing to say I love you and anything else which comes with positive words.
My doctor just challenged me today to build my upper body to get ready for the Meek & Mighty triathalon.
When people recognize my strength, I know that they are looking out for my best interests.

Wow...this is a good question. :)
Ok, basically...the way I'm encouraged, etc, by people who care for me is by the fact that they're there for me. I know I can call them at any hour of the day or night, and they'll pick up the phone. They give me support when I'm down, and are excited with me when I'm excited about something. If I'm downtrodden about something (like work or school) they'll be there, challenging me to keep going and striving to do my best. I can look to them for encouragement, guidance, a pat on the back, a shoulder to cry on, and everything else I can think of.
Basically, the fact that I have people who are there for me is enough encouragement, affirmation, and a challenge for me. All of these things are combined in one feeling that they give to me-the feeling that I'm loved.
Of course, you have to reciprocate love as well, to keep being encouraged, affirmed, and challenged. Hope this all makes sense, since I'm known for being nonsensical when trying to explain myself.
