first of all it's not other races. i know alot of black and hispanic people who celebrate christmas. I would not get offended nowadays if somebody wished me a merry christmas, I'm not religious and christmas, to me, means an occation for family and friends to get together. To me, it's not religous at all.

I celebrate Christmas, however I acknowlege that there are other religions who celebrate others holidays and I respect them. That man shouldn't have yelled at your Mom when she told him Merry Christmas. My guess is that he is a very unhappy person most of the time and it wouldn't have mattered if she had said Happy Holidays or even Hello. The fact is, Christmas is celebrated by more people than any other holiday. That doesn't mean it is better or worse, everyone has a right to celebrate anyway they want. Merry Christmas has just been a common holiday greeting over the years. I agree with you though, If you said Merry Christmas to a Jewish person, they could politely say "I celebrate Hannakuh, but Happy Holidays to you or just simply respond back with a Merry Christmas. The way in which they respond will depend on how strongly that person believes in their religion. However, that man was just an old scrooge and you shouldn't think twice about what he did.

You NEVER take Christ out of Christmas!!
If anyone says Happy Holidays I correct them immediately on there mistake. Our country has forgotten that God is not a word we should shy away from it seems to be OK to talk about every other religion but Christianity which is the only religion the US was built on.

How young are you? Does your "mommy" know you're on the computer during winter break?
Other cultures don't all celabrate Christmas because Christmas means "Birth of Christ" or "Christ mass." Jews don't believe Jesus was their Lord and Savior, so they don't celebrate Christmas.
Muslims do not believe Jesus was their Lord and Savior, so they don't celebrate Christmas.
Buhdists don't believe in a "Lord and Savior" concept at all, so they don't celebrate Christmas.
Hindus have way too many gods to figure out who's who, so they don't celebrate Christmas.
Atheists don't believe in any God at all, so they don't celebrate Christmas.
ONLY CHRISTIANS celebrate Christmas.
Not everyone is Christian. Get used to it.
It doesn't mean they're bad or wrong, it just means they're different from you and your family.

Anyone who wants to can celebrate Christmas. I'm Christian and my wife is Jewish. She celebrates Christmas and I celebrate Hannukah. No big thing.
Some people just like to have a reason to go off about something. To them I say - "Merry Christmas".
The same to you. I wish you a Merry Christmas!

I agree with you on that one. If the person didn't speak English, it could've meant something bad. If not, the person was just plain ignorant. Not knowing something is the main reason why people reject things, but Merry Christmas to you!!

I just play it safe and say "Happy holidays" if I don't know what the person celebrates. To me, it's better to be all inclusive than be wrong.
I celebrate Christmas, and I'd rather have someone say "Happy holidays" to me than "Happy Hanukkah", just as some people would prefer "Happy holidays" to "Merry Christmas."
Why is it just a big deal to be inclusive and respect everyone?

That particular individual who yelled at your mom was just plain rude. Don't let his sour behavior be a reflection on most people's attitude toward holiday greetings. A non-Christian (with good manners) will simply tell you he or she does not celebrate Christmas and may even thank you for the thought.
