I'm in college right now doing my basics and I've got a few Cs, 5 to be exact. Would it be better to retake some of the classes I have Cs in?
5-Cs 5-Bs and 3-As.

I think it would look extremely cheap if you retook the exact same classes that you got Cs in. If you care about some of them, or they interested you, try some upper-level classes int he same field. That way, it will show employers or graduate schools that you were interested in them and hopefully achieved better results. Good luck!

If I were you, I would retake them if I was confident that I could do much better the second time around. I am not sure if this is true at ALL universities, but it was at mine...but only the last grade received remains on your transcript. For example, if you took a class Math 101 and made a C then retook it and made a D, the D replaces the C. If your final grade is higher, then your grade changes to a higher one.
I think you should retake it in hopes of raising your GPA. Even if the original grades remain on your transcript, I higher GPA is going to reflect better on you and your dedication. It also shows that you're a hard worker. So, I would retake the classes if I was SURE I could do better in them.

Right now you have a solid 2.0 average. This is right in the middle, or average. This is neither great nor escpecially bad. Depending on your future plans, you may want to work a bit harder in the areas that you are getting c's in. Taking the classes over may raise your grade, but it will also be recorded on your transcript that you repeated the classes. Most repeat classes are for D or F scores. C has gotten a kind of bad reputation of late, but there is really nothing wrong with an "average" score.

Probably not, unless you are trying to get into a specific program within the college (an honors program). Retaking these classes may be expensive and cause you to graduate later than anticipated. I wouldn't retake unless you get a D, because you still get credit for the class with a C.

If any of these are in you major, you should definately consider dropping the courses and retaking them. This doesn't look good on your transcript and won't help you prepare for higher level courses. If it's possible to work hard and pull them up, try to do it. If the C courses are core or kinda worthless (i.e. bowling, photograhpy, Tolkien's literature) I would just do my best to pull the grades up but not stress out to much.

Why retake them? You struggled in them the first time around. Why risk it and waste more time and money? Even if you get A's the second time, you'll still have those C's on your transcript. Move on, and work on getting higher grades in future classes.

it really depends on if they are in your major or not and what kind of c's they are and how much money you have. where i went to school, c-minus did not count towards your requirements...you needed at c (75%) or better...for non-requirements a d-plus was acceptable and you still passed. if you re-take the classes, will your school count the new grade or the old one or a combination (average)? if you re-take the classes, will you have to pay more because you are retaking the class or to go school longer (and pay more)? do you have the money or time to do that?

Depends - are you trying to go to graduate school afterwards? If so it may be in your best interest to retake some of the classes to get your GPA up./

IF those classes are part of your major then wait to see if you need to bring your Major GPA up to take them. In reality, those "C" classes are difficult to u so it would be wise to not retake them and focus on those classes that are needed for your major.

It depends what they are in and how far behind you would be by taking over your courses. You may also want to look at your college's grade policy as you may not be able to get credit if you take the course over again unless it meets a certain grade requirement (i.e. lower than a C-).
