Terrorism is grave!

2006-12-19 03:08:03 · answer #1 · answered by wondermom 6 · 3 1

Can the labels already. The problem is that too many PEOPLE - regardless of political leanings - don't perceive terrorism as "real", because, unless they have been directly affected by it, it is "just" a concept.

The best case for this is that too may people perceive the unprotected border with Mexico to be "only" a gateway for illegal aliens entering the US - and don't seem to grasp that, along with the illegals, untold numbers of terrorists ALSO have virtually unrestricted access to entering. This issue affects all Americans, and goes way beyond politics. The phrasing of your question only serves to perpetuate division, when unity is what is sorely needed.

Not a lib but, this proves fear mongering tactics by the govt. is working. The threat of terrorism is grave because of who is in office. Tens of thousands of people die every year from tobacco related diseases, why not launch a war on the tobacco companies? then troops won't be dying in a useless war on who or what.

I am not a liberal but it does appear that they are more concerned with being nice and politically correct than they are with being smart and safe. During the Clinton years they knew that Islamic extremist wanted and were planning to do us harm but they failed to do anything because of the possibility of looking bad. Examples of this would be when Osama was offered to Clinton and he refused because at that time (before the courts determined completely Osamas part in several attacks against US interest) official charges were not proven so Clinton wanted to insure he looked PC. It was a known fact that Osama had helped in attacks but the extent of his involvement was not known (they did however know he was a big player.). The CIA in the Clinton years were not allowed to mention suspected terrorist from the middle east by nationality due to concerns of it appearing like profiling. CIA agents would be fired for suggesting that a middle east group was trying to harm the US. They had to have specific names and not just refer to the group as Islamic or middle eastern extremist.

It is FALSE, good sir.

Liberals do recognize the grave danger that terrorists pose - that's why we were opposed to going to war with Iraq. There were no terrorists in Iraq (there are plenty there now though!).

We would much rather have spent the money, time and troops going after actual terrorists, like Osama bin Ladin.

The threat of terrorism may be grave but nowhere near the threat that the current GOP policies are to the USA and the world.

Once again I remind you, that the neocons target the uneducated, unhappy and misguided people and tell them the Democrats and liberals are why they are why they are so unhappy and misguided and because they are so misguided and unhappy and uneducated they believe it, so sad but true,

You have to give credit to the power of the press and the uneducated

Do you guys actually know what liberal minded thinking is, how much of it is against government interference and corporate takeover, mmmm, the government now has more power then ever before over, everybody has had much of our freedoms get taken away, so who is the Corporate media going to try to bash, and people like you get sucked into it

I don't know about the polls. I don't see it as grave enough to take away my rights or violate the constitution. Does that answer your question?
