Hi, tested last night, had very faint line, went to the docs today adn again, very faint line. was told to come back on friday for another test. I am wishing that I was pregnant and seem to have all the symptoms, (miscarried 6 weeks and 2 days ago).
Is this normal? KNow I should have asked my doc these questions but I was so damn worried.

Well, with it being a faint line, it could be left over hormones from the miscarriage. It depends how far along you were when that happened (sorry to hear by the way). But, I know usually a faint line or not, usually means you're pregnant, but not very far along. So, honestly, right now I think it could go either way. Maybe test on your own tomorrow. Since HCG levels DOUBLE every 48 hours during pregnancy, you should get a stronger positive sign. Also, a digital test (though more expensive) are really nice! They simply say pregnant or not pregnant. There's no guessing and squinting to make sure it's really there lol. GOOD LUCK!!!

Well normally a faint line on a pregnancy test is usually positive, your doctor wants to make sure that your pregnancy hormones are reproducing and multiplying the way they normally would during a pregnancy. Since you have recently have gone through a miscarriage some of your hormones from that pregnancy might still be lingering in your system, thus creating a false-positive result. This might explain why your doctor wants you to go back at the end of the week for a retest.Dont give up hope yet, chances are you probably concieved again, It is quite possible to concieve this soon(I concieved just four weeks after having a poor-outcome pregnancy, and delivered 37 weeks later with a healthy baby nine and a half years ago). I hope my answer helps you. Good luck, and just remember If your not pregnant again yet, your time will come and dont give up.

A faint line is a positive line. If you tested early, you may not have a lot of HCG in your urine to come out a dark positive. But since there was HCG, then you are very likely pregnant (unless you are on one of the very few medications that cause false positives.). The only way to know if you are having a viable pregnancy is to have an HCG blood test taken twice, two days apart. if it's doubling, that's a great sign. If not, it may be a blighted ovum. My first pregnancy, i had a very bold line, but I was a week late for my period. I have a beautiful daughter. My second pregnancy, I tested the day of my missed period and had a faint line, but then miscarried a week later (blighted ovum). I am pregnant again. i tested on what seemed to be the day of my missed period and got a very faint line, so I panicked that it may be happening again. I went in for the series of blood work, and everything looked great. I had an early unltrasound and it showed I was a few days later than I thought I was, which explained the faint line ( I actually wound up taking the HPT three days before my missed period). I am now 13 weeks pregnant. So, a faint line is a sign of pregnancy, but to know for sure, ask for the blood test. Good luck!

Faint line means you are pregnant. I've heard the saying a lot that "you can't be a little bit pregnant". A line, no matter how faint, will only show up if you have the pregnancy hormone in your body.
That being said, if you've had a very recent miscarriage, you may still have pregnancy hormone in your body...which is why I think you should test every couple of days to see if the line gets darker.
Good luck!

When I took a pregnancy test 6 years ago I also had a faint line. I called the 1-800 # on the box and the operator told me that if there is ANY line at all I was pregnant. I was a bit shocked as this was unplanned. However, as faint as that line was I was pregnant.
I don't know why they would have told you to come back to the Dr.s office...??
The line that showed up on my test was so light it was hardly there at all.
My bet is that you are pregnant!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! What a happy year 2007 is going to be for you!

Faint line means positive! You should try a digital pregnancy test that says the words "pregnant or not pregnant" It would take you out of wondering. Good luck and congrats!

Sounds like congratulations are in order..... I got a faint line from a home kit and from the doctors. He did a blood test just to check that I definately was pregnant, as the hormone levels can be more accurately detected.

As long as you looked at the test within the time it said to read it, a faint line means you are pregnant. Congratulations! I only had a faint line until about a week after I had expected my period.

With one of my pregnancy's I took a test and it was not a dark line. What my doc said was that not enough hormones were present at the time. The best thing to do would get a blood test done.
Hope things work out good for you this time!
