im going abroad this summer, and i want to know what kind of things to get my homestay family. my mom was thinkin of a cookbook, but i was wanderein what other ideas there are.

Anything that comes from your homeland/state. You might want to bring candy (especially if there are children in your homestay family), or if you come from somewhere famous for sheep, then maybe a scarf made out of wool.

These things do not need to be expensive. Instead, they should be culturally different than the place you're staying at. Additionally, with things like candy or little mementos like pencils, the chidren can share with friends.
