So, is that when the cards were made or only hte movie ? Are these cards rare and valuable ? I have a set of them. It's made by Turner Entertainment Co.

The movie was made in 1939. The cards you have came from TCM online store, and have no value beyond what the original price, since they are still being marketed by TCM.

Real movie collectibles from that era are indeed very valuable (relatively speaking), depending on their quality. Wizard had several tie in products, but mostly in form of figurines and dolls.

Check Ebay for collectibles on a particular movie.

1937 was the year the movie was produced. I did some research for you. It turns out that those cards must have been a promotion for Turner Entertainment/Turner Broadcasting/Cablevision. I am not positive, but the only thing that I found, other than collectibles for The Wizard of Oz was a monopoly game. Sence the cards had 1939 on them it still could be a collectable, so it might not be a bad idea to maybe contact Turner and ask them.

The Turner Entertainment Company wasn't around in 1939, so that must be a reference to the movie.

EDIT: The movie was definitely filmed in late 1938 to early 1939 and released in 1939, not 1937, as someone said below.
