OK, I have been thinking about this and here is what I've came up with: some sort of sweater, a cook book, and a photo album of my dad.

Here are the reasons I chose those things:
A sweater because she works on the mail route...it will keep her warm.
A cook book because she LOVES to cook....she even had her own cook book published and was the food editor for our local newspaper.
Then the photo album of my dad.....that is because he died a few years back (at the age of 36) and we're all missing him. My mom and I have allot of film that we had never got developed so we have been developing them. There is quite a few pictures of my dad, so I thought I would make them into an album for her.

What do you think?

Wow!!! Especially the photo album. But you must hurry on the album, Christmas is around the corner. And the sweater is also a brilliant idea. About the cook book, if she had published her own, would she use other recipes at all? If she does, then that is also a good idea. Otherwise, how about an apron.

Sorry to hear about your dad.

Great ideas for presents. Especially the photo album, might be a little emotional to her, but above all I'm sure she will appreciate it.
Honestly though not to sure about the cookbook though. She has her own published, if you get her a cookbook its going to end up as a dust collector. I love to cook as well and I find it rather insulting to receive a cookbook as a gift. It is a great thought. but still seems insulting. Its like buying a maid a vacuum cleaner.
Happy Holy-days.

I like all of your ideas. One suggestion, however: since she's published her own cookbook, try to find a cookbook that centers around a particular type of food she enjoys cooking. Local bookstores and two mail order places I deal with may give you some specialty cookbook ideas: www@harrietcarter.com AND www@mileskimball.com. They have both been in exsistance a long time. If you choose one of the mail order companies, even if you deal with them over the internet, I would Fed Ex the order asap. to get it where you are by Christmas.
