In Greek mythology, Elara was the daughter of King Orchomenus and mother of Tityos. She was one of Zeus' lovers and he hid her from his wife, Hera, by placing her deep beneath the earth. This was where she gave birth to Tityas, who is sometimes said to be the son of Elara and Gaia, the earth goddess, for this reason.
The Roman equivalent of Zeus, king of the gods on Mount Olympus, was Jupiter. Others of Jupiter/Zeus' lovers included the nymphs Io, Callisto and Europa, whilst Ganymede was a handsome youth with whom he was besotted. They too gave their names to moons of Jupiter,
As regards the innermost group of Jovian moons, the Amalthea group:
Metis is named after Metis, a Titaness and the first wife of Zeus. Amalthea is named after Amalthea, the foster-mother of Zeus. Adrastea was the daughter of Jupiter and Ananke (an outer moon). Thebe was a nymph loved by Zeus.
Elara is a member of the third group of moons, the Himalia group. Himalia was a nymph from Cyprus who had three sons with Zeus. ...
So as you can see, some sort of family or sexual relationship with Zeus lies behind the choice of mythological characters whose names are used for several of Jupiter's 63 moons,

Elara and Zeus were the parents of Tityus the giant
In Greek mythology, Elara was the daughter of King Orchomenus and mother of Tityos. She was one of Zeus' lovers and he hid her from his wife, Hera, by placing her deep beneath the earth. This was where she gave birth to Tityas, who is sometimes said to be the son of Elara and Gaia, the earth goddess, for this reason.
Tityas attempted to rape Leto and was slain by Apollo and Artemis. As punishment, he was stretched out in Hades and tortured by two vultures, which fed on his liver.
