It's cold right now because an unusual southward bend of the jet stream is bringing and arctic air mass down from the north. And it is cold as a mafia hitman's heart! Brrrr.
Global warming can't be used to explain daily fluctuations in temperature. It's about small changes in temperature average over a large area and a long time.
I'm not too worried about it warming up here in SoCal. It will be lovely for the Rose Parade, just to make everyone else in the country want to move here. That's the way it always works out.

The concept of Global Warming refers to the overall average temprature on the planet. Yes there will be days that it is freakishly cold for your region, but that has something to do with global warming as well. On average the average temperature of the earth will rise atleast .5 - 1 degree a year. Say the average temp is 60 - 65 degrees F. Well with the current trend that gives us only 40 - 50 more years untill the average temp is around 100 degrees F. If that happens we are doomed. Most of the species on the earth will perish. We will have to do something drastic on a global scale in order to curb this problem.

Global warming does not happen in a matter of days, weeks or even years, it takes decades of ill-treating the environment. Just because you have a few days of cold weather in California does not mean global warming is not in progress. When the planet heats up, the iceberg melts raising sea levels...this can completely screw up the climate or season we are use to over the years. Global warming is much worse than fluctuation in degrees. I live in California and it is not even that cold. It's amusing when we californians go to the beach in December and still complain it's cold. Throw away your muscle shirt or tank top and put on a sweater, you might find 70 degrees quite comfortable.

Global warming is supposed to make the -average- temperature of the Earth rise. It is also supposed to make the climate more extreme. So in a particular region, California for example, at a particular season, it may be colder than normal. But over the course of the the year, it will be generally warmer.
Hope that's helpful.

I wouldn't worry much about it because the influence that man has on global warming, as it is currently reported, still falls into the category of "pseudo-science". But, as Josef Goebbels put it, if you tell a lie often enough people will believe it.
The last great con was eugenics (if you haven't heard of it, just look it up). It was embraced by governments, eminent scientists, research foundations and colleges taught it as a course. It was all the rage.
Then along came Hitler and after that you couldn't find a eugenicist to save your life. Eugenics "fell out of fashion". How does anything soundly based on scientific fact "fall out of fashion". Like the predictions of the coming "ice age" being made only 15-20 years ago by the same people now fanning the flames of global warming.
It is undoubtedly real, but based on what we have in terms of fact, it is probably just Mother Nature off on another one of her excursions.

worldwide warming is a incontrovertible fact. question is wheather each and every person is inflicting it to enhance at a quicker value. That being pronounced, no longer the full planet is warming - it fairly is purely the favored worldwide TEMP that has been increasing. by using this we are waiting to inspite of the very undeniable fact that adventure checklist chilly temps by using fact of themes like the milankovitch cycles (tilt / rotation / orbit of earth). There are a ton of distinctive themes that bypass into impact suitable right here as properly from melting ice caps to themes like jet streams and hi or low preassure zones. (that can impact that days temp in a particular area) so worldwide warming isn't a contributing element to checklist chilly temps.

My name is Rafael Lomena. I write from Alicante (Spain). I am independent investigator on the Accelerated Global Heating and want to share with all something that can turn out from interest to fight this phenomenon.
I believe that the main cause of the Accelerated Global Heating is in the great and increasing forest fires that are whipping to the planet in the last years.
My complete report is in: http://inicia.es/de/rlv/clim.htm
If they do not understand the Spanish they can use the automatic translator that will find in the main page of site:
