The best thing is sex definitely! Sperm contains two hormones that are used to induce women, my midwife told me that! Prostaglandin and I can't remember the name of the other one!
Also, drinking 1 or 2 cups of raspberry leaf tea a day also works. You can get this from any health shop, not to be drank until 36 weeks pregnant. I think this gets the uterus contracting, it tastes quite nice too.
One other thing I have heard of is fresh pineapple, I'm not to sure if this works but it's worth a try! The raspberry leaf tea and sex definitely do work though. Merry Christmas and Good Luck!

Everyone will tell you that the baby won't come until it's ready...did she do a stretch and sweep?
If the baby is ready Castor Oil will work...did for me, twice, but it's not pretty...and if baby's not ready you'll just spend the entire day on the toilet.
Black or Blue Cohosh is an option, be careful on the dosing and talk to the person at the health food/vitamin store...they have big books there that can tell you how much is too much. Both induce contractions and the warning is 'do not take while pregnant' (because they induce contractions). If you are more than 40 weeks than that too can be an option. With baby 3 I took black cohosh and castor oil. I woke up at 8am in labour.
Be careful because every positive has a negative so weigh them both :0)
Good luck and Congratulations!

Ooooo well there are a few that my friend tried. However, nothing really worked until she did some lifting and something happened. However, that's not to say that heavy lifting during pregnancy is a good idea!
- Rosehip tea/capsules. You can get them from health food shops. Apparently they can help with the onset of labour.
-Orgasms. Sex. Masturbation. And playing with your nipples. Perhaps get your partner to do that. Make it fun ;)
-Walking around and being active. Sometimes not actually thinking about it. Sometimes that works :)
-Curry. Nice hot curry.
- Going for a drive in a car. That was one that my mum was given to try.
There's just a few. Good luck though. Sometimes you can't rush nature and your body. When your baby wants to come, it'll come.
Good luck and have a safe and hopefully swift labour! ;)

You're already well on the way, so walk, walk, walk, walk, walk and the walk some more! Also indulge in sex, ensuring that you both orgasm - you to use the uterine muscles, and him for the hormones in his semen - and indulge in nipple tweaking.
I would avoid castor oil or hot curries as they will morelikely upset you tummy - probably delicate at the moment anyway!
Above all, remember that baby will come when baby is ready, and although you can try to encourage him/her, s/he will only come when s/he is ready!
Make the most of your last few baby free days!
Best of luck whatever happens, enjoy your special christmas pressie!

Time. Time is a great labor inducer.
Walking, sex, stimulating your nipples for an hour or two a few times a day, mopping on your hands and knees (helps the baby position).
The hormones that induce labor are released by the baby. You can encrourage their release, but you cant make it happen. When it comes down to it, its up to your body and the baby as to when you go into labor.

The baby will come when it is ready. My first went two weeks over! Apart from that, the best thing to try is apparrantly sex. If this is out of the question for you, I have also heard that nipple stimulation for a long period of time has been known to induce labour.

try a spoon full of castor oil, I never tried it but my girlfriend did for all 3 and within 24 hours she said they were all born. I don't think it makes you feel too good though and I'm assuming that it doesn't taste all that great. You can get it at Wal Mart of health food store

All the natural things seem to have been mentioned. You could always try to plan something you really want to do or to go to -sods law that will be just when the baby puts in an appearance!
Good luck

how far alongside are you? **given which you're 38 weeks, i think of attempting organic exertions inducers are ok, even with the undeniable fact that waiting till the toddler comes by utilising itself is in all probability appropriate. a chum of mine basically advised me (in the present day easily) that her physician easily advised her to take castor oil. I consistently theory those have been previous different halves memories that could or won't paintings, yet this seems to be medically supported. of direction, my chum additionally advised me to no longer do it (it replaced into terrible, and not well worth it).
