If the conspiracy theories of liberals and conservatives were to be placed side by side and compared I don't think there would be a dimes worth of difference between the two. Let's face it, nutty is nutty regardless of where it is coming from.

9/11 conspiracy theories are difficult to categorize since I have noticed both extreme liberals and extreme conservatives espousing them. The only difference between the two is who is placed in the role of the shadowy villain, either the Jews or President Bush. Otherwise they are all without any serious evidence that would convince a child or a tiny bit of common sense.

As a conservative conspiracy theory I would imagine something like the Vince Foster suicide stories that made the rounds back during the Clinton Administration would qualify. As would those theories about the United Nations taking over America with it's Cultural Heritage Site program. Both are without any foundation in reality. Foster might not have been served well by his friends in high places but they didn't kill him and the Heritage Site program involves giving the site a plaque and nothing else, no jurisdiction or control or anything of that nature. It is totally symbolic and harmless.

The liberal conspiracy theories tend to swirl around things like the Florida 2000 recount, yes, Bush won fair and square, or the death of President Kennedy or his brother RFK, it was Oswald and Sirhan alright! More recent ones seem at cross purposes since they protray President Bush as either the most stupid person on the planet or the most fiendishly clever evil genius to ever walk the Earth,,,make up your @#$% minds already.

I'm sure there are other examples for both sides that others will think of. The trouble is that each side can only seem to think about the other and never examines it's own troops for nuttyness. If the liberals and conservatives would just clean their own houses, instead of only complaining about the others place being filthy, then maybe we could marginilize some of these baseless conspiracy idoits. Instead, each side protects the dolts who spew this drivel so long as the drivel accuses the other side. Sad situation.

What specific Conservative conspiracy theories are you referring to? Generally speaking I do not label conspiracy theories as Conservative or Liberal. I usually break them up into fanatic and non-fanatic categories. There are conspiracy theories which are presented well and have the air of truth (JFK Assassination) and then there are those which completely ignore the rational fact and spout whatever insane rhetoric which comes to their mind (911 conspiracy). The problem with conspiracy theories in general is that the people who believe them tend to ignore any evidence which does not support the theory, while those who discount the conspiracy usually do so with accepted and provable facts. Therefore while one side is rational the other side is usually anything but.

You cannot group conspiracy theories into liberal and conservative for he most part. I know people on both sides that believe that 9/11 was the governments doing(how retarded is that?). Do some research and you will see that there are very few conspiracy theories left only to one extreme political group or the other.

I can't even think of a conspiracy theory off the top of my head that is exclusive to conservatives.

They are as bad as each other. Most conspiracy theories are so ridiculous as to be laughable. Both sides do it even if they claim they don't. And even though they all do it so much, they never seem to get any better at it. I thought practice made perfect, in this case that is not true!

As a conservative I have to say.....

....that wackos are wackos on both sides! Right now I think that the libs are steeped a little more in the craziness, but thats only because the Cons are in power.
