i will be working or doing something on the computer and if i am in a window or game or even checking mail and i try to close the window or even if the computer is setting idle often my computer just shuts down and restarts on its own without warning.what can i do to resolve this problem.

you should see if the fan behind the computers power supply, and a fan above the processor inside the computer box are functioning. It happens due to overheating of components.

I have had the same problem on two computers and the problems were not virus related. The problems were intermittent and occurred even after erasing the hard drive with a drive washer program and reloading. One was resolved by replacing the power supply. The other computer required a new motherboard.

get update, reboot and do a full scan

if its overheating or the power supplys acting up than they will need to be replaced

The most common reason is CPU overheating due to a build-up of dirt, dust, pet hair etc. that is clogging the cooling fan(s).

That happened to me a couple of years ago and it was a worm. I could only be online for a couple of minutes.

you probably have a virus in your computer. you can go to best buy and have the geek squad take a look at it. you may have downloaded some websites that could have harmed your computer.

If it's not a overheating problem, it probably is a bad power supply.

Have u tried turning off the hibernation mode, because mine does that.
