There can be a variety of answers to this.

1) Tortoises can be found in many places around the world.

2) Tortoises hatch from eggs that are laid by its mother.

3) Tortoises are also one of the most ancient animals in the world, as they've been around since the time of the dinosaurs, around 200 million years ago. So, an evolutionary answer would be that modern tortoises evolved from earlier forms of tortoises. They haven't changed much in millions of years.

4) Also, they come from land. Tortoises are generally land-dwelling reptiles.

I have a turtle from Florida, she has two red tripes on her head. But many of them are from warm countries. Also, the water turtles live in big oceans and seas and the other, the sand turtles in- in forests. Mine, can also swim and walk on ground.
