Sounds cheesy I know, but nothing makes me feel as good and as loved as holding hands with my wife of 27 years.

An act of intimacy is anything that brings people closer together emotionally, physically, or spiritually.. Hunting with my son, playing basketball with my daughter, consoling a friend are all intimate acts. Being present for family, is just as important as getting sex.

Sex can be intimate between a couple or it can just be the act of copulating. My wife and I spend evening (when we have them free) sitting in the living room snuggling on the couch. Or talking without children present is intimacy.. It is what you make of it.

Intimacy is being able to share everything about yourself with another person and know that you will not be critisized or judged for who you are. Being able to fully trust another person is intimacy that goes way beyond sex. Sex is not always an intimate act!! Intimacy is passion and feelings and trust and knowing that no matter what that person will be there for you.

When the sex happens with someone you truly care for and are connected with it it a very intimate act indeed. That said, there are far more intimate levels that human beings can share and they can even be between friends. When you truly open your heart to someone or open up to them, it is incredibly intimate. And if you are lucky enough to share a psychic experience with someone, you experience a level of intimacy that is one of the closest experiences one can have with another human being.

My lover and I had a marriage ceremony that was just between the two of us. It wasn't legal, of course, but it meant more to the two of us on that romantic night on our little yacht out on the lake than any other thing we could have done. God was there, and the two of us. It was magical and absolutely heaven. I have never been so happy and complete in my life.

PS - The honeymoon was amazing as well!

Kissing.
This is considered to be more intimate than sex. Often prostitutes will not kiss a john. closeness of the faces is a sign of trust between two people.

Sure, I think intimacy just represents something you're willing to share with one person that you're not willing to share with others. It could be anything like sex, money, secrets, desires, fears, kissing, etc.

Kissing is very intimate. So is fistfighting. (Watch 2 fighters after a bout- they have never met until today, but now they are best friends, hugging and congradulating each other. It's a remarkable experience, being in a good fight.)
