Nothing is impossible in this world. Records are meant to be broken. Still, the record in ODI is still unassessible. App 5000 runs. Ponting in his prime now and is app. 5000 runs behind. Even at an average of 50 , he requires atleast 100 ODi and that might take him 4 - 5 years. Other players like Lara, Inzamam, Jaya Surya and Ganguly are still playing but in all probability they would not last beyond the WC 2007.

The total runs scored by Sachin Tendulkar in ODI is 14537.
The next highest is 11591 by Inzamam-ul-Haq and 11260 by
S.T. Jayasuriya. Since both of them will retire either along with Sachin or before Sachin, the record of most runs scored by Sachin Tendulkar will remain in tact for many years.

Yeah an indian would dislike the person who would try to beat Sachin's score which is a very great score but Ricky ponting if continuing his form can beat the record of 40 centuries and I think he can make more runs tooo. But being an Indian I dont want it to be

Yes! Definitely, but may not be in the next few years. five-ten years from now, the whole ODI game may change so much that 400+ scores for teams and 200+ scores for individuals may become quite common, just like 300+ scores for teams and 150+ scores for individuals have become quite common. Then, who knows what will be possible for top scores??
