The clothes don't make the woman.

It is hard to explain this one for you because you are a Muslim woman. As such you have been raised under the belief system that a woman's body is somehow evil and wrong. You have been brainwashed to think that a body needs to be covered up.

This was what they used to think in Victorian England. Puritans also shared this outmoded belief. Thankfully after many years society has evolved into a less sexist mindset.

Women can do as they please. Imagine that??!

Your logic is really pretty sad. You talk about respect for women, but at the same time you are suggesting that women can only be respected if they conform to some imposed stereotype defined by men. I suggest you read some books on feminism, and stop defending the notion that women are second class citizens.

Despite what your religion has told you, women are entitled to be equal to men. Women do not have to dress as men dictate.

Sure as long as she is actually wearing the Bikini. My mother didn't have the body for a Bikini so she never wore one. That is were the problem is if she doesn't have the figure for it. A son will loose respect for their moms poor choice of fitting swim wear.

There is nothing wrong with wearing a bikini. As a matter of fact in most cultures much less is worn. So of course he should not lose respect for her if she is comfortable with her body and wears a bikini

Respect is not something we are born with, it is something you teach your kids. It is a matter of principles. Of course, peers from school have a lot to do with it, but in the end it is up to you how well you communicate with your kids and how well you educate them.
I hope the best for your kid.
