Lets face it dude, as much as you people try to act as if all white people are not racist, sorry to say too many of you are and minorities are not accepted in lots of white events. Things are not totally equal yet buddy, we need to stick together as much as possible, for every black man in college, there is two in prison, don't hear you complaining about that.

I think you may be redefining racism. Racism is defined as believing one race is superior over another. I do not think that historically black sororities and fraternities hold this ideology. These institutions were put in place, as you should know, because there once was a time when blacks couldn't join such organizations.
With that being said, I know personally of several whites who have joined Phi Beta Sigma and their sister sorority, Zeta Phi Beta.
What many white people have to realize is that if racism didn't exist, there would be no need for these sorts of institutions like NAACP, affirmative action and black greek organizations. Many white people are so quick to dismiss any discussion of racism in America as "whining" by blacks. This dismissive attitude also perpetuates the very thing you say black organizations do. So, instead of pointing the blame at blacks, maybe you should be pointing the finger at the government who allowed such atrocities to take place in the first place.

a black sorority doesnt exclude whites or other races, it was made because minorities couldnt get into many other sororities and fraternites in the early 1900s, so now in the day and age these sororities are still around and have gained a reputation for themselves. They wont just shut down because it the year 2006 and some feel that racism is "almost gone" if that;s the case why is it when a white woman disappears it is all over the news (natalie holloway, that runaway bride) but let a black or latina disappear and no one knows.

It's something that we as a society are going to have to come to terms with. The problem is that we are run by a government that doesn't worry as much about taking care of itself as it does getting the votes. A congressman would rather gain a few votes than do his job right. The thing about it is that those minority groups have proven themselves to be a strong influence when it comes time to vote. Not overly drastic, but if you can really capture the eyes and heart of the NAACP, then you can swing a vote by a slim margin.
I don't have a problem with racial profiling in groups on a private level, but what bothers me is the government funding for many of these groups. The NAACP is one brilliant exception. Even though I often disagree with what they say, they are almost entirely privately funded and they do a lot of good for their cause which is the furtherment of black society in they United States. Look on the television. How many black anchormen do you see? Actors/actresses? Sports stars? The Civil rights movement has had a wonderful effect and because it's privately funded, I don't have a problem with it.
What I have a problem with is the groups the government funds. There are Native American, Black, Hispanic, Asian, and whatever else you want to think of, groups that are racially profiled and federally funded. This is BULL.
Why the hell can't I get a grant from the US government that an Asian guy who wasn't born in this country can get even though our scores are the same? Why should a black kid get a scholarship to a university just because he is impoverished when there was a white kid in the same situation. I'm not saying those people are not deserving, please don't misread me. What's wrong is when I'm told I don't match the criteria because of my skin color.
It is reverse racism, but by definition of the United States Supreme Court passed in August of 1996, they made it impossible to racially discriminate against a white person. Further more, it is impossible to sexually discriminate against a man. On top of that, it is impossible to discriminate against a middle aged man. What does that mean? If someone is a white male in his thirties, he cannot be discriminated against even if there is overwhelming evidense to support it.
But, because white people are scared or too ignorant to voice their opinion on the issue, there will not be a change. Most white people don't care. After all, when you look at it, we live in a white culture. Over time this is going to change and we are going to have to fight to maintain ground just like everyone else. Yes, it sucks in a way, but the country was founded on diversity, so it may be best.
The other big problem is this: Look at the groups that want to be white exclusive. The KKK is the loudest and most prominant and because of them, they are setting us back. The idea is not be be a white supremist, the ideas of racial profiling in private groups is to be proud of who you are, but because of dip Sh*ts like that, white people come across as the devil.
It's going to continue for a long time I'm afraid because the change isn't important to most white pople. But in the meantime, just be proud of who you are whether you're white, black, or whatever.

Separate but equal. Look at women who want to be equal but don't have to register to be drafted. The hate crime laws punish a white person who beats up a black guy but the same laws do nothing if roles are reversed unless a black person assalts a white homosexual. The BET channel exsists but their is no white christain network and most channels are forced to put on black shows to promote diversity. A white person who lives in poverty is screwed in this country since their are no real white community leaders who care about these people and no affirmative action laws to help that white person get out of poverty.

Not sure this is really a question. People are trying to get rid of racism but there are cultural things that will be around for decades perhaps centuries. Black sororities or fraternities are not promoting racism they are rather promoting their culture.

Well said!! I couldn't imagine what Rev Sharpton and Jesse Jackass would do if their was a TV station dedicated to white people only or a Fraternity that had only white people. But with a "black" sorority or BET they look the other way like it should be acceptable or something. It truly is a terrible double standard and I don't see it changing in my lifetime.

I completely agree. I went to college in the south, and there we had 3 pagents that were open to white and black women, but there was another one that was open to black women only. Why weren't we allowed to have a white pagent only? I'm not racist, but I am however what I call 'classist.' I don't like people without class. I don't care what color you are, if you act like an idiot with no sense or respect for your fellow man, that's what I don't like. We are all people with different heritages, and it's great and wonderful to embrace them and spend time with like herritage/minded people, but that doesn't make any other herritage above another.

I'm sorry to say that this question will never be able to be answered. I think many of these races bring a bit of racism on themselves honestly.
