Bytes again. A KB is a kilobyte. Actually it is 1,024 bytes, but Kilo (1,000) is easier to remember. MB (Megabyte) is a thousand kilobytes. A Gigabyte (GB) is a thousand megabytes.

In computers, data is stored as a sequence of bits using the binary numeric system. A bit is a binary digit. It can hold either the value 0 or 1. A sequence of eight bits is called a 'byte'. 1024 bytes make up a 'kilobyte'. A 'megabyte' is a sequence of 1024 such kilobytes.

for every letter there are 8 bits ( or 1 byte). 1 bit can either be 1 or 0. zero means off and 1 means on.
8 bits = 1 byte
1024 bytes= 1 kilobyte
1024 kilobytes= 1 megabyte
