I have checked the IP addresses on all computers on the network and all are different except I noticed all the other computers say the node type is Hybrid and mine says Broadcast. Could this be causing the system error pop-up and if so how do I change the Node Type to match?

I have checked all the computers I know is on the network and none have the same IP. They are all 192.168.0.x. This pop-up seems to come up mostly while on the internet. And the DCHP is running.

I had a similar problem at a company several years ago. I finally tracked it down to a laptop user that would go home to their Linksys router, get assigned 192.168.1.3 and bring it to work, creating a conflict with a server.

I don't think the node type would be the cause...but I could be wrong on that. Do you have a DHCP server running? Check to see if your server might have that started...it could be issuing dynamic IP's that conflict with static ones.

If you're getting this message, at least 2 machines have the same IP address.

What IP scheme are you using? I've seen cases where uninformed newbie admins have used the wrong IP scheme behind a NAT firewall thinking that it doesn't matter. For example, 192.168.x.x is private, but anything that begins with 192 and has anything but 168 in the second octet is PUBLIC.

While it is OK to use a public IP scheme behind a NAT firewall, it must be IP space that has been assigned to you by ICANN or delegated to you by your ISP. Using someone else's IP space will lead to exactly the problem you are seeing.

Post details of your IP scheme and I'll be happy to analyze it for you.
