I dont know how to make a uniform volume level of all the songs i put into my iPod. some are louder while some are not. it's a bit hard to keep on adjusting the volume for every song. could someone help me with this?

Sound Check is a feature that allows you to hear all of your songs at approximately the same volume. You can turn Sound Check on and off in the Effects pane of iTunes preferences.

How it works

When Sound Check is on, iTunes scans the songs in your library and computes characteristics of their playback volume. As new songs are added, iTunes computes this information in the background. This data is stored in either the "normalization information" ID3 tag or the iTunes Music Library database. The audio data in your music files is never changed. If you encode or "rip" a song with iTunes, the sound check level is stored in the song's ID3 tags. For songs that were encoded with iTunes 1 or iTunes 2, or another application, the sound check levels are stored in the iTunes Music Library database.

When Sound Check is off

If you turn Sound Check off, the Sound Check data stored for each song is ignored, but not removed from the iTunes Music Library or the ID3 tags.

Notes
1. Sound Check works with .mp3, .AAC, .wav, and .aiff file types. It does not work with other file types that iTunes can play.
2. Any boosts in playback volume are protected against clipping by iTunes' built-in limiter.

i dont think you can. one of my songs are like that too but i just turn the volume down after my ears have been blown off! that one song is the one that i got from limewire. I'm about to get another one. try doing that. get the same song and hope its on a lower volume.

if this didn't help, try calling you local apple store. maybe they can help you. if they can't, then here's the tech support number:

20 minutes later:
I found this thing, but only is you have the 5th generation iPod Video. If you go to settings, there's this thing called the volume limit. I'm not sure if its specifically for the songs, but you can set the limit to your volume. then you'd have to lock it with your combination (i'm guessing its the same combo to lock your ipod.) hope that works. cuz I tried what the other people said, it didn't work for me. One of them says that it only works for specific audio files. but that's just me. maybe it'll work for you.

In your iPod, go to Settings -> Sound Check.
Turn it on.

Alternatively, you can try leveling the volume of your whole library in iTunes in the preferences dialog. It's much slower however.
