My brother is moving to N. Carolina next week and is driving. I wanted to give him a gas gift card for Christmas, but I dont't know which gas stations are prevalent in the south.

You can go to his address in Yahoo Maps, and there is a feature where you can find nearby gas stations. That will give you an idea of what is close to him, and you can be sure that he will be able to use it.
