Legal age for what? To vote? (18) To be executed? (ditto) To drink alcohol? (21, except for sacramental wine, as to which there is no particular age if it's just a sip.) To have sex? ("absolute" age is 18, but it's 16 if the partner is under 24http://www.actwin.com/eatonohio/gay/consent.htm, and there's no particular minimum if married to the partner:

and compare: http://snurl.com/girl13 (Maryland)
And as a practical matter so long as they are of the same age and consent and are not otherwise a danger to themselves and others, even 13-years are not/cannot be prosecuted.

But maybe you have something else in mind: the right to contract (generally 18 unless emancipated or married); the right to fight and die in the military (a federal issue). And so on.

Be specific.

It depends on what you want to do in Florida. For example, if you want to drive, the legal age is 16, if you want to vote, 18, if you want to smoke, 17, and if you want to drink, then the legal age is 21.

"What is the legal age for flordia? I am 16 and i was told by one of my teachers that the legal age is 17."

There is no quick answer to your question.

Legal age for what? Here's a partial list of what some "legal ages" are in Florida:

Age of majority (to vote, enter into legally binding contracts, etc.): 18-- unless you are declared an emancipated minor prior to that age.

Age of informed consent for most consensual sexual acts: Sort of 18 and sort of 16-- but if the older partner is 24 or younger, then the younger partner can be as young as 16. See below for some details.

800.04 Lewd or lascivious offenses committed upon or in the presence of persons less than 16 years of age. (1) DEFINITIONS. As used in this section: (a) "Sexual activity" means the oral, anal, or vaginal penetration by, or union with, the sexual organ of another or the anal or vaginal penetration of another by any other object; however, sexual activity does not include an act done for a bona fide medical purpose. (4) LEWD OR LASCIVIOUS BATTERY. A person who: (a) Engages in sexual activity with a person 12 years of age or older but less than 16 years of age; or (b) Encourages, forces, or entices any person less than 16 years of age to engage in sadomasochistic abuse, sexual bestiality, prostitution, or any other act involving sexual activity commits lewd or lascivious battery, a felony of the second degree

794.05 Unlawful sexual activity with certain minors.-- (1) A person 24 years of age or older who engages in sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years of age commits a felony of the second degree...

(Florida code, Title XLVI, Chapter 794) (As quoted from Wikipedia.)

Marriageable age: 18 or 16 with parental consent.

Age of criminal responsibility: Generally 7 years old.

Working age: As low as 12 if you work in a family business under certain conditions but otherwise variable depending on the circumstances.

Drinking Age: 21.

Handgun Possession: 21.

Quit school: 16-- with certain conditions.

I could go on. Society has generally placed legal limitations on minors for nearly every kind of conduct to ensure the minor will not be exploited or placed into danger (or place others in danger) before they are ready to at least minimally appreciate the consequences of their actions.
