Paper with words printed on it, bound together and used to prop up wonky table legs today.

used to once be the reseptical of choice for the accumilation of 90% of mankinds knollage (rest was kept by oral tradition..particualy in ireland where blarney was cheaper then paper :-)... sorry, couldnt resist).

Since the advent of computers the book now resides in strange holding areas called libarys where the mass accumilation of knollage has led to temporal and existential rifts forming... these area are considered highly dangerous by the young as it was rumoured that "education" once occured there...

Now books are illigal in most trendy shopping areas and can only be reliably found on amazon.com where sick older men and women place orders for them knowing that they will recieve them in a brown paper bag and that noone will know they have done it.

extensive exposer can turn the sick and depraved (called "readers" by the medical establishment) in to orange bi-pedal apes that resemble a stack of tire inner tubes.

"BOOK" is a revolutionary breakthrough in technology;
no wires, no electric circuits, no batteries, nothing
to be connected or switched on. It's so easy to use
even a child can operate it.

Compact and portable, it can be used anywhere, even
sitting in an armchair by the fire, yet it is powerful
enough to hold as much information as a CD-ROM disc.

"BOOK" is constructed of sequentially numbered sheets
of recyclable paper, each capable of holding thousands
of bits of information. The pages are locked together
with a custom-fit device called a binder, which keeps
the sheets in their correct sequence.

Opaque Paper Technology (OPT) allows manufacturers to
use both sides of the sheets, doubling the information
density and cutting costs. Sheets are scanned optically,
registering information directly in the brain. A flick
of a finger takes the user from sheet to sheet.

"BOOK" may be taken up at any time and instantly accessed
by 'opening' it with the simplest of finger strokes."BOOK"
never crashes or requires rebooting. A Browse feature allows
the user to select any sheet seamlessly or to search forward
or backward as required. "BOOK" is frequently supplied with
an 'Index' feature, which pinpoints the exact location of any
selected information for instant retrieval. An optional extra
called a "BOOKMARKER" permits the user to open "BOOK" at the
exact point a at which a previous session was terminated. The
feature operates even if "BOOK" was closed. BOOKMARKS comply
with universal design standards; ie. a single BOOKMARK can be
used equally well in "BOOKS" produced by anyone, anywhere or
at any time. Numerous BOOKMARKS can be engaged in a single
"BOOK" should a user require to mark numerous views at once.
The number of BOOKMARKS which may be engaged in this manner
is limited only by the number of pages in a "BOOK" and/or
the number of BOOKMARKS available to the user.

Personal notes may be made next to BOOK text entries by use
of an optional programming tool with the unwieldy title of:
"Portable-Erasable Nib Cryptic Intercommunication Language
Stylus" which is more commonly known by it's quaint but
effective acronym "PENCILS." Later versions of PENCIL are
enhanced by the addition of non magnetic erasers built into
the non-operational end. Freestanding erasers are also being
marketed which are ergonomically designed to fit in the hand
or on the desk alongside "BOOK"

Portable, durable and affordable, "BOOK" is being hailed as
the precursor of a huge entertainment wave. "BOOK"s appeal
seems so certain that thousands of content-creators have
committed to the platform and investors are reported to be
flocking to the phenomenon. A flood of titles is in train.

BOOK TECHNOLOGY REBUTTAL

RE: new Bio-Optic Organized Knowledge device,
trade-name "BOOK." and re: message quoted above

this "BOOK" technology has serious shortcomings in user
outcomes which, while not apparent from an immediate
usability analysis, could seriously impair its market
desirability. Research shows that prolonged and
repeated exposure to this "BOOK" technology causes users
to become contemplative, reflective and, in severe cases,
it can induce bouts of concentration and focused thinking,
with common side effects that include swelling of imaginative
and analytical portions of the brain. Such swelling can
impede market-critical emoto-cognitive functions like the
impulse-purchase quadrant of the cerebellum.

In one overlooked period of history, the installed
user-base of this "BOOK" technology spread with almost
epidemic speed. This period, known in Bookish techno-jargon
as the Renaissance, saw that after the introduction of BOOK
there were unpredictable outbursts of individual and
collective creativity. But the record shows that BOOK
technology has no useful market outcome, in that during
the entire period of the Renaissance, historians can find
no evidence of a single IPO.
