It depends on where you're watching them, and how interested they keep you. If you're watching the movie at home, no because you can pause and get up if you need to. I think it is too long in the movie theater though becuase if you have to get up to go to the bathroom or anything you miss part of the movie.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. A movie is a source of entertainment which you do to inevertably take up some free time. So if you have 3 hours of free time and a movie which is 3 hours long and will keep you entertained for those 3 hours then no its not too long for a movie. However if after the first 1 hour the film is starting to drag then yes it is too long. O yeh why has so many people got thumbs down for answering this question?

Most movies run from an hour and a half to two hours. But if the movie is really good than three hours is not too long. I've watched movies that I was so into and then they go off and I wish it was like an all day movie.

It depends if the subject matter of the film can sustain such a length. The Lord of the Rings films were around 3 hours (longer on the extended DVD editions) because the orginal book that they were based on was an epic story and over a thousand pages long. By comparison, Titanic is a very flabby movie which would have been greatly improved if it had been cut down in the editing room.

It really depends on the movie. Sometimes 3 hours doesn't feel like enough because you are so engaged in what is being sad and the characters and the director's vision. But then there are some films where the length adds nothing other than unnecessary flab. For example, Gangs of New York could have been a brilliant film, but just felt fat and overindulgent but the Godfather could go on for another hour or two and you wouldn't mind.

I suggest you don't watch Gone with the Wind!!!
Normally a good film lasts that long - look at Lord of the rings, watch all 3 together its 9 hours long! had a sore bottom after that I can tell ya! Although it's more better with sequels - look at Back to Future, Matrix, Star Wars.....

I don't think three hours is too long for a movie if it's a good movie, but if the movie sucks, it could feel like a lifetime!
