By posers i mean the people who dress like they are goth or punk, but they are really not, they just want to fit in with whatever anyone else is doing...like the skulls on everything lately, you can go to jcpenneys and get a whole outfit with skulls on it, when a couple of years ago most people wouldn't be caught dead wearing something with a skull on it!

I like Goth fashion. Simple colors sparingly in black are very flattering, and they never went through that trend of buying "worn out" new clothing. The clothes are usually high quality, and band shirts are always fun. While I'm not a fan of the pale make up, it's cool that make up and nail polish isn't only worn by females. It's very egalitarian.
I prefer punk music though, but I also enjoy Goth music.
Piercing and tattoos are fun, and they really allow people to show who they are on the outside. It's a lot nicer than plastic surgery, and often tattoos are bits of great art.
Often, people who fall in these groups are pretty interesting. They are usually unique and can think for themselves, which is noteworthy.

Don't know what you mean by posers, Goth, punk is a way a person thinks and speaks. The look is irrelevant, there are all types of Goths and Punks who dress differently and speak differently.

It's cool with me. I'm not punk or goth [anymore :-) ] and I think it's great that everybody has their own style.
Well... except those people that wear sweatpants around all the time... and sweaters with cats on them...
How do I see "them"? As people who aren't afraid to have style, whether people don't like it or not or whether people think they're just angsty depressed people looking for attention. Not everybody who dresses that way is like that. I view "them" not as a group, but only as a person once I meet them.

I find that they are the more interesting people by nature. All mt friends were Gothic ( when I was in high school), and I just loved them. I am more afraid of preppies and the such, because you aren't really sure about them. I have never had any problems with goths, but preppies are more dangerous. This is just my opinion, probably not the majority.

well ok now a days its not the same..
like i was punk back in the day when it meant something (the 80's) as was my hsuband.. he was also into goth and is more goth now...
then if you cut your jeans it was a big deal
NOW you can buy precut jeans so its not the same thing at all
I see most now as posers...or people who just like the clothes that years ago they frowned on or laughted at...

i dress kind of glam/hiphop/trendy ( i don't what to call it lol). when i say this to people they find it hard to believe but sometimes i find goths/punk really intimdiating, i often think they will dislike me because im not like them.
i guess this is partially based on past expriences me and my friends have had with goths/punks.
thats is just my honest answer sorry if you don't like it
anyway happy holidays!

You're unhappy and just want to be part of a family. It's just like gangs in that way. It's funny you say "not posers" as anyone like that is a poser. You're reaching out, but you'll never get what you want that way.

I think it's sad. I feel that people who dress or act differently have a need to be noticed which stems from insecurity. It's the same with women who dress provocatively. They need to be noticed but get angry when they receive the "wrong" kind of attention.

I don't think it matters what others think. It is just the way you choose to express yourself. Individuality and cultural diversity are what makes things interesting.
