Even the intermediate insulin should have taken effect over night. Did your doctor also prescribe long-term insulin (such as Lantus) to take at night? My wife is diabetic and takes Novalog three (3) times a day (morning, noon and night) and then takes the Lantus - which is released slowly over a 24-hour period - before going to bed at night.

A. Your body could be temporarily restisting the insulin shots. B. Your dosage could be too small to contain your blood sugar levels. C. It will take up to a week for your body to adjust to any new chemical being put into your body.
