Ok, follow along . . . A married man, meets his neighbor (female) for drinks on Friday at happy hour, initiated by the female neighbor. His wife calls during the happy hour, and he tells his wife who he is with. (the neighbor is friends with the husband and wife)
Do you think that the married man was interested in the neighbor at all, even in just a flirty way, or was it purely a chance to get out and have a drink ?

I play a role in this circle, but I don't want to say who I am because I want honest answers...I might be the female neighbor, or I might be the wife of the guy who met the neighbor. I just want to hear opinions.

I think it's very inappropriate for a neighbor to invite the other male neighbor out for a drink without his wife. Even if it's innocent, it's going to look another way with everyone. The guy should have refused the invitation and said he would only go with his wife. There's too much temptation there. Men don't always know when to say no to anything.

Well, I would say it doesn't mean that he is at all interested in the neighbor, just a chance to go out and rewind. You don't say if the married man has children? If so then the wife(and mom) can't be free to go out with her husband. If there are no children then why isn't the husband inviting his wife?? Probably because he is a man and they don't always think. Either way I would be really pissed at my husband and I would have to kick the sh*t out of the desperate neighbor!!!!!

It could be any of those possibilities. There is not enough information to tell.
He could be interested but not intending to actually pursue it. He could be just being friendly. It could have been a chance to get out of the house. He could be looking to cheat on his wife. He could be just feeding the ego boost he got when female neighbor invited him.
He could have told his wife the truth because he is honest and him and his wife have trusting open communication. Or he could have used his honesty to keep his wife from being suspicious of what he might actually be doing (i.e. "If he's going to do something, he wouldn't tell me, right?")

I think to go without telling your wife first is a big no-no personally.

A cheating man wouldn't have been honest.
However, whichever woman you are, who's to say he's telling the truth?
If you are the wife, you don't know for sure what really happened.
If you are the neighbor, you do, and you should be cautious as to not rub the wife the wrong way. Don't get her supicious if all you want in him is a friend.
Drinks are purely innocent and can be platonic BUT not always.

Somebody's thinking of messing around. This is when you find out if the other is thinking the same. They get the go ahead vibe and their off!!! It's very inappropriate to be having dinner/drinks/lunch/brunch or any kind of alone time with a married person. The only thing thats left to happen will happen. Friends? If it was a coincidence that they met there yeah okay, but if they planned it together, I don't know? It sounds fishy and smells even worse.

Sweetheart, any time anyone is out with anothers spouse .. the trouble is only a matter of time away. This is the truth, couple who are very friendly in this sort of way are only tempting the people included to doing the wrong thing ... its not, IF ... its, WHEN.
I wont even show up at a buddies house if he's not there. Wife is home, kids too, I'm not stopping, something is going to happen ...

Sounds like he didn't care if his wife knew about him being there so I would like to believe he didn't think twice about it being just a friend having a drink. If you are the wife I would have met and had a drink with them, if you are the neighbor shame on you!

It's hard to say. Maybe the wife feels comfortable enough trusting her husband to have drinks with the neighbor. It could be suspicious or totally innocent.

I dont think it was just to have a drink, Sounds like she just wanted company andand he was bored. He did not lie to his wife then that shows you nothing was going on but 2 adults having drinks, and as long as his wife did not mind that one time I do not think its right for this to be a ongoing thing unless the wife is there also.
