I'm a nurse. Your eye is irritated from wearing the contacts sounds like it. I would suggest you wear a new pair. You could be developing an infection which isn't good. Try flushing your eye too. Use warm cloths to help with the irritation as well. I would see a eye doctor if the symptoms continues. Wear the contacts and have fun tonight.

How long were you wearing your contacts before the pain started? Did you sleep with them in? Perhaps you scratched your eye or there wasn't enough moisture and your eye is irritated. I understand that you have to look amazing tonight, but your eyes are too important to take a chance on. Are you using extended wear or daily wear/disposables? Call your eye doctor and have them look at you real quick to make sure you don't have in injury. If you are using extended wear or daily wear, consider going to disposables. Hope it's nothing serious, but take it seriously before it does. If you have to go to the dance without them in, stay away from the walls, furniture, stairs and anything flammable. Have fun at the dance.

Get to an eye specialist right away! It could be iritis. It leads to glaucoma if not treated within 24 hrs. I had it before and your eye is dry and hot, very uncomfortable. It feels like there's something in your eye. Acutally, it's caused by bacteria that get into the back of the aqueous matter - the big round ball - of your eye. It attacks your iris!!!! Check the link and GO TO THE DOCTOR!
