I have the ENTIRE collection of Pink Floyd on CD, including members' solo projects, except for a CD some band got Nick Mason to lend his name to. That one was horrible. Now, if you were only going to buy 1 CD and never another, I would definitely say the double-live album Delicate Sound Of Thunder. Outstanding performances throughout, and you could say a greatest hits of sorts. The DVD version of the songs is just great- filmed live with a monster film screen on stage behind the band. Studio albums may have better versions of a few songs, but you cannot beat the performances of songs like Run Like Hell, Time and Comfortably Numb that you'll find here. There's still time til Christmas, I would put this on the list and get it emailed to Santa in a HURRY. Good luck, and enjoy!

The Wall, but Dark Side of The Moon is great too.

Get the dark side of the moon cd it is their most common one and if your getting it as a gift it is really cool or even just for your self

Dark side of the moon has sold more copies than any album in history. Dark Side of the moon is a better album to get stoned by anyway.

actually you should buy 2 at once. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn to see the how it all started and The Wall.

my fav (if i had to pick one) would be Animals,,,, for a first record may i recommend,, Echos,, its a compilation (not greatest hits) even though the song Echos isnt on it
